Context
Some of the new users of Videoly for Brand initially use the Freemium plan, testing the service, and later decide to switch to Premium. Videoly decided to change the Freemium plan model. The new plan includes limitations on the number of videos uploaded to the system and restrictions on access to certain sections and functions of the service such as analytics and others.
Solution
Provide users with an understanding of the remaining number of video uploads and to update the placeholders for premium sections.
Process
Adding a video upload counter for a clear understanding of the Freemium plan limits
The initial idea was to display a video counter on the dashboard. After analyzing the best practices in SaaS, I proposed adding a small block to the left navigation bar so that the information would be visible from any part of the system.
Combining descriptions of premium features to encourage users to upgrade their plan
Each premium section had a placeholder with text explaining the specific section or feature. I proposed removing the placeholders with long texts and consolidating the premium features into a single pop-up with short and clear descriptions of the advantages of the Premium plan.
Results
The proposed solution simplified the user flow since the pop-up now opens both by clicking on the link of the premium section or feature and on the CTA button in the video upload counter. The process of requesting a plan change has been streamlined and made clear to users, increasing conversion rates by up to 3 times.
